While it may have seemed like a great idea to have the YMCA take over the recreation program in our community, not only did they raise the fees for the programs but they also decreased the amount of participant days. The swimming fees went up and the amount of days kids were instructed decreased from 12 to 6 and from 45 min to 30 min. The baseball and softball fees also went up and if you are not a YMCA member you also had to pay an extra fee. We choose not to participate last year because of the increased fees and extra fees as well as several other families that we know. You should not have to be a YMCA member to participate in summer recreation activities in your own community and all community members should be able to pay the same fee whether they are a member or not. Well the YMCA may be a good alternate program for larger communities it is not right for our smaller community. If I had the time, I would volunteer to help out and run a summer program for free.

"Bridge fest" could become an annual tourist attraction /destination similar to harvest fest in Green Lake. Capitalize on bridge project for the locals!!!!! Winneconne has SO much tourism potential! Decorate Bridge for fall. Fireworks. Construction cone or detour sign mascot. Bridge souvenirs dated. Parade. Bridge Light show to music. So many opportunities!

Detour killed "customer" traffic this year, and having one in the fall would have no competition, as Omro's draws a ton Memorial Day weekend.

The last couple of years there have been quite a few families that enjoy the beach area at Lake Winneconne Park. Other than swimming or boating there is not that much to do. It would be nice to be able to rent a canoe, paddle board or a kayak for a couple of hours or even have inflatable inner tubes and rafts for kids and families to use.

There is a crosswalk near Proto-1 on Grant Street that has no signage. Vehicles and trucks speed through this area and do not stop for pedestrians in the crosswalk because they are unaware of this crosswalk. With the volume of use this crosswalk and the Grant Street walking path has, it would benefit the village and potentially avoid any unwarranted lawsuits should someone be harmed while in the unmarked crosswal.
