The Public Works Director manages the department’s day-to-day operations, infrastructure planning, and team supervision.

Responsibilities include:
  • Supervising Public Works staff and maintenance crews
  • Managing Village vehicles, buildings, and facilities
  • Overseeing sewer and water system operation and repairs
  • Maintaining streets, sidewalks, and alleys
  • Recommending infrastructure improvements to the Village Board
  • Working closely with the Village Administrator and Public Works Committee to plan and manage all major projects

The Public Works Department is a vital part of local government, responsible for maintaining the infrastructure and essential services that support the everyday lives of Village of Winneconne residents. From clean drinking water and safe roads to public parks and sanitation services, this department touches nearly every aspect of the community.

What We Do

The Public Works Department manages:
  • 18.4 miles of Village roads
  • Water and wastewater systems
  • Refuse and recycling collection
  • Public parks and cemetery maintenance
  • Infrastructure development and long-term planning

In addition to daily operations, the department plays a critical role in project planning, mapping, and engineering support for future improvements.

Street Reconstruction Projects

The 2025 street reconstruction projects have been completed.

The 2026 road projects include Grant Street from South 6th Street to Tower Road, Enterprise Road and 14th Avenue extension. Additional capital investment projects include the Waste Water Treatment Facility update plan.

Pickup Days and Times:

  • Wednesdays: West Side of the Village – 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • Thursdays: East Side of the Village – 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Please put leaves in paper bags at place by the curb—not into the street—by 7:00 a.m. on your pickup day.

  • Crack sealing, patching, and shoulder maintenance
Sanitary Sewer
  • Management of sewer mains and lateral lines
  • Maintenance of lift stations
  • Operation of an extended aeration treatment facility
Water System
  • Two municipal wells and two water towers
  • Approximately 5 million gallons of clean water delivered each month
  • Routine testing, pumping, and distribution system maintenance
Parks Maintenance
  • Building and grounds maintenance at all Village parks
  • Support for recreational and public spaces year-round
Waste and Recycling
  • Refuse and recycling services (contracted providers)
  • Brush and yard waste collection
  • Leaf pickup and compost site access
